It’s time to do something different and take the opportunity to fulfil a long time dream!

More than 1 billion people live on less than a dollar a day in total poverty, with no hope and no future. We aim to raise over £2,500 in order to support World Vision’s work in East Africa.

We would like to raise enough money to support a child in Uganda, Ethiopia and Kenya for a period of two years. The money will go directly towards improving their health and educational needs and will provide them with some hope and the opportunity to have a brighter future.

We would also like to make a contribution towards a community project in Uganda. The people of the Rukiga district, South West Uganda, are determined to improve the educational prospects of their children and World Vision is committed to working with them to achieve this goal. We will raise over £700 to support training and development classes in Rukiga, with a particular interest in ensuring an improvement in health and economic outcomes.

In order to raise these contributions we plan to drive from London to Kampala and then onto the Rukiga district between 8th May and 30th June 2010. We aim to visit each of the sponsored children and will also pass through Libya, Egypt and Sudan. Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman’s expedition, ‘Long Way Down’, has inspired our plans and we hope to share our own experiences with you through our blog.
